Many people work hard, long hours, to get just enough at the end of the month. If you are in that cycle, from having to work from Monday to Friday or Saturday to cover the month, or even having to look for a second job during the weekends, increasing your working hours (working harder) to be able to cover your expenses and saving some money is not the solution.
Hard work is never the answer to attracting more money into your life. Working hard is important, but also working smart, the important thing is to work hard with a goal in mind.
Filip Zbigniew, the founder and CEO of BookingKoala, has an insane work ethic. However, Filip claims that’s not the reason behind the success. He started off by creating King of Maids, and then his love for tech and innovation continued to grow, which led to BookingKoala.
Today, BookingKoala helps service organizations in many different ways. Filip was even named as one of 17 marketers to keep an eye out for in 2017. He started with a combined investment of only $6,000, and managed to grow it into a billion-dollar business.
He has a lot to say about why hard work isn’t enough to make a person succeed.
Imagine that you have a ship with enough fuel to go from one continent to another, you are in Europe and your goal is to travel to America. If this ship lost its way on the high seas, suppose the rudder stops working and starts turning in circles, it would use the same energy that it would need to go from Europe to America, but it would not reach the destination.
People who work hard without a clear goal are like a ship without a rudder. They go to work from Monday to Friday, to make ends meet, over and over again, without going anywhere. They are always in the same place. And this is what I mean when I say hard work doesn’t work.
The first step is to have a clear objective, what do you want to achieve? And then use the same energy and do something every day to achieve it. In this way we are working hard, but moving forward and progressing.
Someone who aims to start a business will have to work hard, but they will find themselves rewarded in proportion to their effort.
Don’t work for work, simply because everyone goes to work every day, so they can pay the bills for the month. In this way you will only manage to wear yourself out, like the ship that circles the sea.
If you do not have a clear objective, firstly, you will end up working for someone else who does, and secondly, you will not be able to advance, they will spend 10, 20 or 30 years, in the same job or from job to job. Working hard, but without reaching a destination.
You must have a goal, think about how you want your life to be in a few years, what you want to be, what you want to have and how you are going to achieve it.
We all have 24 hours in a day, no one has the privilege of having more time than others, Bill Gates has the same hours available as the one who works Monday through Friday from 8 to 5. The difference is how you use the time, if you concentrate in a definitive objective, or if you let yourself go through the day without sitting down to think about how you want to live and how to achieve it.
