Every face has distinct features, including the shape of the face, the colour of the skin, and other facial features. Since every face is different, the shape of your brows should suit your particular face. Some are satisfied with the way their brows are, while some aren’t. For those who aren’t, microblading is the option to have fuller and even shaped brows. Microblading helps create bespoke brows for each client according to their needs.

The process of microblading is very precise and effective. This tool is like a pen with a nib that has 10 to 12 needles at the end, which makes minute scratches on the skin. These scratches are like paper cuts. The needles implant featherweight strokes with medical grade pigment on the upper skin layer with natural strokes.

How is microblading your brows different from other procedures?

Microblading brows is done on the top layer of the skin, unlike other procedures like tattooing, which goes deep in the skin. Microblading is not permanent, as the pigment fades in about 18 months. The hair strokes done by microblading are much finer than any other procedure done on the brows. This is due to the fact that the tool used to do this procedure is handheld and not done by any pre-programmed machine. This tool makes more of a scratching noise rather than the buzz of the machine. Microblading is very precise, but microshading has a softer finish and is less defined.

What actually happens when you have your brows microbladed?

● The brow is threaded to the shape you want before the area is cleaned and prepared for the treatment.
● The area of the brow and around it is numbed. During this time, the client is told to choose the shade that best works for the brow.
● The size of the brow is then measured, taking into account the shape and symmetry of the face.
● The pigment is then implanted via featherlight strokes. Each stroke is a superficial line where the colour pigment seeps and settles in.
● A final layer of pigment is then added, which stays for 5 minutes. This pigment is then cleaned; et voila, your brows are ready.
● In six to eight weeks, a top-up session is required to fill in any gaps left during the first session.

A top-up session of microblading brows is required if you wish to change the original structure of the pigment or if you wish to go for a darker shade of the pigment.

What happens after treatment?

You should avoid scratching or picking in the areas around the brow. Your brows will heal over time, just like a tattoo. This healing can cause some irritation, but this is very normal. In the next ten days, your brow may get flaky or seem like it is losing colour, but this isn’t concerning. The final shape and colour will be revealed in around 30 days.

You should let your practitioner decide the shape and colour of your brow because they have the expertise needed to determine what suits your face’s shape and symmetry the best. It is always better to go with something natural than to go on reference images taken from a magazine or from the internet. The colour of the brows should be similar to the natural colour of your hair. Otherwise, your eyebrows might not suit you the way they need to.

The shape of the brows is decided by a microblading ruler, which is different for every person. The shape is then finalized by drawing it freehand to give it a more natural look.

Can someone be allergic to microblading?

There are people who can be allergic or sensitive to the pigments used in the process of microblading. A practitioner often does a scratch test to test if the skin is sensitive to the pigments used.

How long does microblading last?

Microblading lasts anywhere between 12 to 18 months, but it depends on the skin ability to hold the pigment as well as its texture. Microblading can last for about 12 months on oily skin but for 18 months on normal skin. The will eventually fade after this if you don’t go for top-up sessions. There is no scarring or discoloration since microblading doesn’t leave any residual marks.

Microblading doesn’t hurt much, since it is more of a sensation. The actual microblading process happens pretty quickly. It is the numbing process that takes the most amount of time (about 50 minutes). The microblading process can be undone by pouring salt/saline solution on the brows. It takes about seven to ten days to return to normal after using the saline solution on the brows.

Microblading is a very superficial process that does not have any repercussions on the skin. It is very safe and can be done on most types of skin.
