Today we are going to discuss a very simple eco-friendly soap making recipe. Later on, we will discuss eco friendly soap benefits for our body and environment. Whatever ingredients we will discuss here are chemical-free and will result in a cruelty-free soap that will leave your skin silky and smooth.
To start the process, you will need below ingredients:
- Tea Towel
- Caustic Soda
- Sea Salt
- Extra Virgin Oil
- Purified Water
- Glass Bowl
- High sidewall pot
- A food thermometer
- Handled blended
- Soap moulder
- Surgical spirit
Stepwise instructions to prepare the soap
Step 1
Measure 11 oz of water and mix it with 1 tablespoon sea salt in a bowl.
Step 2
Add caustic soda to the mixture. Ensure to have a mask on your face because caustic soda gives a chemical reaction when mixed with water and sea salt.
Step 3
Take 22 oz of olive oil. Pour it into the high sidewall cooking pot on the stove. Then check the temperature of the caused soda in the mixture.
Just check it is dropped to below 135F, once the temperature is dropped to 135F, mix the oil up with a hand blender and slowly pour the caustic soda mixture into the pot.
Step 4
Mix the mixture until you see the track marks behind the hand mixer when gone through the mixture. Don’t prepare the thick mixture that you can’t get out of it.
Step 5
Once the mixture is ready pour it into the mould of your choice. Fill each mould only up to 70% of the way up. At this point spray a bit of surgical spirit to prevent discoloration. Add the tea towel at the top of the pan and leave it to sit for 3 days.
Step 6
Last step. Take out the soap from the mold and cut them into smaller pieces. The lengthy and toughest part is to keep these bars in the open air for around 30 days. This is just because caustic soda is harmful to our skin but once it absorbs all the oxygen from air and liquid from the soap then it is completely fine to apply it to the soap on your skin.
Now your soap bar is ready. Now you can add some other natural ingredients for the clean feeling and fragrance that you like the most. Some of the best ingredients are lavender essential oil, olive oil, coconut oil, grapeseed oil, etc.
