How does it work?

When you insert your key, which is connected to the system, into the lock, current flows from the solenoid to an electric switch which opens up an electrical circuit in another wire. That circuit connects directly to the mechanical arm that restricts access to pull on the trunk lid release handle. As soon as you remove your key from the lock, current stops flowing to the solenoid which in turn shuts down the electric switch. This causes the circuit to be broken and your car’s trunk system reverts back to normal.
