Many of us know that there are around 5 different types of Tea like the white tea, green tea, Pu-erh tea, oolong tea, and black tea. They all come from the same plant i.e., the Camellia Sinensis plant. The difference between each one of them depends on the type of processing done.
An oxidation process determines what kind of tea will be formed. The oxidation process starts from the time the leaf is plucked from the plant and is dried. White tea is something that is less oxidized and is silvery-white in color while black tea is highly oxidized and is black.
Tea is the second largest popular beverage amongst people after water. Tea is considered very healthy as it helps in reducing weight, prevents cancer and any cardiovascular diseases, and lowers the chances of diabetes. A freshly brewed tea is a healthy choice for your body as it is 100% natural.
White tea:
White tea is the least processed one and has zero levels of caffeine in it. They are picked when the new tea buds are formed and are tightly enclosed in the leaves. They have a white and silky texture and usually feel tasteless when tried for the first time. It is after you gulp down the throat, you will feel the sweetness of this tea.
Green Tea:
This tea can be plucked in the morning and can be brewed on the same night. The bypass of oxidation helps to maintain the green color of the leaf. This tea is soft and subtle as compared to oolong and black tea. The caffeine content is low here and therefore it just provides freshness and relaxing effects to its users.
Oolong:
Oolong tea is midway between green tea and black tea. They are created by wilting them under the sun and are bruised slightly for that semi-oxidation process. Here the caffeine and antioxidant level are also midway between the green and the black tea. They are very healthy and pleasant to taste. One of the Best Oolong Tea Room in Los Angeles is our very own favorite the Yoshan Tea. This oolong was cultivated on the Taiwanese Mountains since the mid-19th century. They have different flavors of oolong tea which will be loved by your taste buds.
The Oolong tea leaves are withered and then rolled. Then they are made to go through the oxidation process until the desired state, which is before the leaves are 100% oxidized.
Black Tea:
This is the most highly oxidized tea and has the highest amount of caffeine present in it. These are the most popular ones amongst other tea, especially in this western world. Here the leaves are plucked and are allowed to be withered. Once done, they are crushed into some powder by hand or a machine. This starts the oxidation process where the leaves then turn into dark black color.
Pu’erh Tea:
They are aged and then made to go through the fermentation process. In Asia, people use it as a medicinal herb to cure hangovers or reduce cholesterol. They have a smooth, but darker texture. The caffeine content in them is lesser as compared to the black tea.
