The Brief
The Library and Knowledge Service at Calderdale and Huddersfield Foundation Trust needed a complete transformation to maximise the light and space available. The space needed to incorporate three distinctive areas. A work space with new computer desking, a dedicated quiet study space including desks with modesty screens and quick charge points and relaxation zone with easy chairs, a sofa and soft furnishings.
The Solution
The proposal FG Library & Learning created for Calderdale Royal Hospital not only met the hospitals expectations but exceeded them. A sunny and vibrant yellow colour theme was chosen for the walls, Latitude shelving and furniture. This colour was then echoed in the meeting pod and mural to create a space that is light and bright with an up-lifting feel. Repositioning of the counter allowed FG Library & Learning to create a spacious entrance area and the shelves and fixtures were positioned in such a way as to create the segmented areas which formed part of the design must haves. The end results successfully created a relaxed and welcoming refuge for staff and students away from the busy ward environment.
