The startups that operate in the green economy experienced a boom in capital investment in 2021, reaching a record of more than $ 32 billion globally.
A figure that, taking into account only the first three quarters of the current year, exceeds the total of 21 billion dollars in 2020.
Furthermore, the current level of venture capital employed in 2021 has seen an increase of almost five times compared to 2016, i.e. the period immediately following the ratification of the Paris Agreement, when a total figure of 6.6 billion was reached . dollars.
The survey was carried out by Dealroom, an international data and intelligence company on the technology sector based in Amsterdam, and London & Partners, a business promotion agency in the city of London.

The economic areas with the greatest investments
In the document released by Dealroom, it is possible to see how this growth affects the entire global economy.
The economic area that brings together the United States and Canada, for example, continues to represent the region with the highest level of investment, with a total of 17 billion dollars.
However, Europe has experienced the highest growth rate in the last 5 years, rising from 1.1 billion in 2016 to 8 billion dollars in 2021.

- Sweden: $ 5.8 billion

On the national level, however, it is possible to note the undisputed leadership of the United States with a total investment in the last 5 years of 48 billion dollars. China and Sweden follow in second and third place, with 18.6 and 5.8 billion dollars respectively.
Inside the top ten, but off the podium, are four European nations: the United Kingdom ($ 4.3 billion), France ($ 3.7 billion), Germany ($ 2.7 billion), and the Netherlands. ($ 1.3 billion).
While Canada registers a total of 1.4 billion dollars in the same time frame, India 1 billion dollars, and, finally, Singapore stops at 700 million dollars.
