It was 2016 when my elder sister had to move out to Noida for work. Leaving her family and friends in Kolkata, she went to Noida all by herself. A confident young woman in her twenties was slaying everything like a boss until something happened that changed her as a person as she and her prince-charming met for the first time over a fight for chai. When will they grow up? Let’s call her K and him P for the article’s sake.
Office, Food and Fun
K was always this driven human being with high hopes and P came into her life as a blessing. K and P grew in love. They were the perfect match for each other – the match made in food heaven. These two crazy folks would ride (motorcycle) 70 kilometers just to try a different sort of paratha (Indian flatbread). K is also an amazing cook and P, being a foodie brought joy to their world. On office days, they would usually eat outside but on the weekends, they would nail some serious three course meals! I went to visit her in Noida once in 2018 when she got promoted. She threw a party at her place with close friends and colleagues. The food that she and P prepared was out of the world! They went fully continental. There were salads, lasagna, raviolis, steak and what not. I ate a lot at the party and enjoyed the leftovers too.
Sister in Need, Sister Indeed
Once I got really sick and couldn’t eat anything. My blood pressure level got super low. I was on complete bed rest. I would hardly feel hungry and would stay nauseated most of the time. It was K who used to check on me all the time. She came to know about my situation and from Noida, she taught mom some light and healthy soup recipes that worked wonders for me. I was back on my feet in no time because of her.
Didi ki Shaadi
In late 2018, I also moved to Noida for higher studies. I chose Noida so I could stay with my sister because I was not ready to be on my own at that point of time. Plus the food she cooked was wow! I could stay there forever. Anyway, the time passed real fast. She got engaged to P in April 2019 and now it was time for the big fat Indian wedding. I was so excited because I never thought K would marry and it was actually happening right in front of my eyes! Everything was set; guest list, catering services and all the jobs were getting managed pretty easily as my sister is a perfectionist. Both K and P decided to get married in Noida for some reason. So, they booked a party hall nearby which could accommodate around 300 people. It was not a gala event as she was getting hitched outside her hometown. It was a cosy celebration of their love with the families and close ones. Do not even get me started on the food. The location of the venue was great and it was also pretty close to the place where we were living. It was, downright, the best party hall near us. It was a place where two souls bonded for the rest of their lives. It was a place from where a new journey began. It was a place where they promised to grow in love with each other forever.
