What is the difference between a smartwatch and a fitness band?

Wearable gadgets are the trend of this era, every big tech company has started making wearable gadgets like fitness band and smartwatches etc. But wait a minute have you ever wondered what is the main difference between a smart watch and a fitness band? Well let us find out the key differences below.

Functions.

Of course, function of both devices makes the difference. Smartwatches are meant to be used solely without the need of a parent device like smartphone to use it. You can use a smart watch to make call, send text messages and even install some apps on them instead of your primary phone.

Whereas a fitness band is made to be used with the help of a parent device such as smartphone or laptop. They are dependent on the smartphone in order to show detailed specs and customization of User Interface.

Design.

Design is the key factor which lets someone know that whether it is a fitness band or a smartwatch by just looking at it. Smartwatches usually have a larger screen which can show more data and options. They are often round and square in form factor and resembles the look of a classic wrist watch.

When it comes to fitness bands they usually look like a bracelet or a wrist band. Most of the time they have a rectangular screen having smaller size as compared to smart watches. They are not always on and feature like lift wrist to wake up the screen is available.

Despite of the differences between functioning and design both the wearable devices work in the pretty same way.

Most of the fitness band are made keeping the accuracy of tracking physical activities in mind. Whether a smartwatch is made keeping minimising the need of smartphone for doing day to day tasks.

Battery Life.

Normally if we compare the battery capacity of both these devices, smartwatches have bigger batteries, but when it comes to uptime then fitness band results in better uptime.

Confused? let me explain in a little better way.

Due to the larger screen size and ability to make and receive call via sim consumes the battery of a smartwatch very fast. Whereas the screen of fitness band barely gets turned on to watch the time and exercise stats.

Price.

This is the trickiest part when deciding the differences between smartwatches and fitness band. Some smart watches like amaze fit bip are cheaper than a typical fitbit fitness band. And sometimes fitness band like mi band 4 are cheaper than amaze fit bit.

Read it again and trust me you will not find it confusing anymore. So, the point is more the money you pay to brands more feature you will get inside the devices. You can sometimes find a best smart watch under 2000 Rs and sometimes a 5000 Rs fitness band will not worth it.

Conclusion.

So from the points above it is clear that both smartwatches and fitness band have their own pros and cons, they are designed keep various functionality in mind. So before buying a wearable device first decide what you actually want from your device an accurate activity tracking or a little smartphone tied up at your wrist.
