Efficient public transportation is one of the integral components of a fully developed metropolitan city. It is important for people who travel daily to reach specific destinations on time. In light with this, it is crucial to establish an efficient, comfortable, interconnected, and affordable public transportation system that covers the entire city. The Mass Rapid Transit (MRT), a leading public transportation system, is dedicated to connecting the lives of people in Singapore and providing them with convenient travel options. Helmed by the SMRT Chairman, Seah Moon Ming, and the equally influential and professional SMRT CEO, Ngien Hoon Ping, SMRT is a safe, reliable, cost-effective, and preferable mode of public transportation. In this article, we highlight Singtel’s collaboration with SMRT to promote artwork created by SPED students at several train stations.
Promoting Artistic Talents of Special Needs Students at SMRT Train Stations
For years, SMRT has been considered the leading public means of transportation for general people to simplify their daily travel requirements. Not just safety, but SMRT promotes enhanced travel experience for people and promotes the importance of talent, artwork, and more. About the same, SMRT has collaborated with Singtel to launch an artistic talent month-old campaign to showcase the artwork of SPED students across various train stations. The Singtel Touching Lives Fund (STLF) and Expressions Through Art Initiative have collaborated with SMRT to promote local talent among children with special needs for better recognition and acceptance among the general public.
As part of the art campaign, around 36-piece digitized art collection that actually features a variety of scenes from daily life created by SPED students aged seven to 18 years old will be displayed on the windows of two exclusive art-themed SMRT trains that will run along SMRT’s North-South-East-West and Circle Lines. Not only this, the work will be displayed across several publicity platforms including Stellar Ace’s poster panels and digital screens at selected MRT stations throughout the island for about a month, until December 2023. Stellar Ace – SMRT’s out-of-home advertising arm – is Singtel’s exclusive media partner for this campaign. All the artworks will also be exhibited at 313@Somerset until 19 November 2023.
Leading Figures inaugurated the Campaign
To promote the hidden talent of students with special needs, the campaign itself was inaugurated by Ms. Jane Ittogi at Ang Mo Kio MRT station, together with Singtel Group Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Yuen Kuan Moon, Singtel Group Chief People and Sustainability Officer and Singtel Touching Lives Fund (STLF) Chairperson, Ms. Aileen Tan, as well as SMRT Chairman, Mr. Seah Moon Ming and SMRT Trains President, Mr. Lam Sheau Kai. Even Singtel Group’s Chief Executive Office, Mr. Yuen Kuan Moon shared his thoughts, ‘With the help of this art campaign that has been made successful with sheer collaboration of SMRT, we are promoting the widespread acceptance and creative talent of SPED students. As we progress towards the digital age, we shall not forget the hidden art talent and shall promote the same in front of all the people and showcase their praise towards students with special needs.
Conclusion
SMRT provides easy public transportation accessibility for commuters and ensures a safe travel experience. It even provides platforms to creative talents, especially students with special needs to showcase their artwork in the form of a recent art campaign conducted in collaboration with Singtel.
