“How do I get more likes on Facebook?” That’s a good question – and I have an answer for you. But I’m not the only one! If you type “get more likes on Facebook” into Google, you’ll get 3 billion results.
Yes, 3 billion… with the letter “B”. Lots of advice in there! But no worry. I have a trick that works.
07 Ways to Increase Facebook Post Likes
There are two types of Facebook likes you want to get:
- Likes for your Facebook posts
- Likes (fans/followers) on your Facebook page
Both are important. And they feed each other.
The more likes you get on your posts, the more likes you get on your page. The more likes you get on your page (the more followers you have), the more likes you get on your posts.
So what should you focus on first?
I discovered that you should focus on getting more likes on your Facebook posts. Why? Your posts reach a larger audience, so more people find your Facebook page and you will get more active Facebook followers.
How to get more likes for your posts on Facebook
Your Facebook posts are crucial. Successful posts that generate high engagement will have a huge impact on your page. More engagement on your posts will benefit your Facebook Page more than anything else you do. So what should your goals be post-commitment?
Your goals should be the following:
- Get people to share your posts with friends
- Make sure people pay attention to your messages
- Get people to engage with (i.e. click on) your posts
If you encourage people to do these three things, your posts will reach many people and your brand will spread widely throughout the Facebook ecosystem!
This way, people who have never heard of your brand will see your posts… and many of them will like your page in hopes of seeing more from you. If you continue to share great posts, they will continue to engage with your page.
Every time they interact with your Page, they send a signal that tells Facebook to show them more and more posts. And that, my friend, is the point! Because once Facebook shows your posts to many people, you can take the next natural step for your business:
You can start publishing with links to your website! These posts drive traffic to your website and convert your Facebook fans into followers, customers, and ultimately brand ambassadors!
1. Publish proven, data-driven content
If you want to increase the number of likes and engagement on your Facebook posts, nothing is more important than this first tactic. Using proven, data-driven content in your posts gives you the best chance of building an online presence and reaching millions of people.
What exactly is “proven, data-driven content”?
This is content that has already been tested by audiences and has achieved huge levels of engagement. In other words, it is content that has proven to be effective in the past.
2. Be consistent
If you follow the above tips once or twice, you may be able to increase the number of likes on your posts, but in the long run, it won’t make any difference to your page.
Why?
Because you need to stay top of mind with your followers if you want them to continue communicating and sharing your content
periodically sends the following KEY messages to your subscribers:
- That your company is active
- That your website offers added value
- That you are interested in building a community
This consistency (and these messages) is crucial to the development of your website!
3. Post at the perfect time
The perfect time to post varies from industry to industry. If you’re in the fitness industry, early morning posts may get more attention because that’s when your audience is (likely) most active.
If your brand targets Gen Z consumers, posting much later can (potentially) result in better engagement. Determining your ideal post times requires (you guessed it) some trial and error.
Analyze your engagement rates at different times of the day until you determine the ideal time to post. When you use Post Planner, you can easily decide when to post by adding post times to your schedule. We’ll tell you more about planning at the end of this article!
4. Use eye-catching images
Did you know that articles with photos get 94% more views? Pretty crazy, right? Photos and visual content are the MOST shared content on Facebook.
In other words: people love photos! Images help us focus on, understand, and identify with the content in front of us.
This means that photos should play a key role in your strategy!
5. Be brief
Facebook posts get the most engagement when they are between 50 and 99 characters long. In other words, people don’t want to read long subtitles.
The requirement of brevity and conciseness does not only apply to signatures. Also useful for video posts and articles! As a rule of thumb, Facebook videos should be between 15 seconds and 3 minutes long.
And what does that mean for you?
Don’t publish your articles, videos, and other content for longer than necessary. If you can use 10 words instead of 15, your engagement will increase. If you can send a message in 15 seconds instead of 60, you’ll get more clicks (think viral TikToks).
6. Be relevant
What to do if you encounter boring content on Facebook? Keep scrolling! Your subscribers are just like you. Relevancy is the KEY to your success on Facebook. But what exactly does “relevance” look like for your followers?
There are two easy ways to find the content your followers want to see:
- Find popular websites in your niche.
- Use Post Planner’s content search engine.
To use the first strategy, look for pages in your niche with lots of followers and engagement. Then take the content, rethink it, and republish it on your site (crediting the original post as the source).
7. Add a call to action
People often see a post, like it, and then move on. They don’t like you, they don’t follow you, and they certainly don’t share anything with you.
How can you increase likes on your Facebook posts?
Comfortable. All you have to do is ask! The tactic of explicitly asking readers to respond is called a call to action (CTA).
While watching videos on YouTube, you may have heard:
“Don’t forget to hit the like button and subscribe for more content like this.”
This is a call to action! And it works like a charm. Enter your comments below! Share a post with someone you think might like it (for example: Share this post with another plant parent!)
